Side Effects
Occasional eye irritation--with itching, redness and swelling--may occur with use of the eyedrops. Occasional burning or stinging in the eye may occur with use of the ointment.
Drug Interaction
No interactions have been reported.
Over Dose
If you suspect an overdose, seek medical attention immediately.
Notes
Continued or prolonged use of this drug may result in a growth of bacteria or fungi that do not respond to this medication and can cause a second infection. Should this occur, notify your doctor.
Ophthalmic ointments may slow corneal healing.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose...
Apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular schedule.
Uses
Garamycin Ophthalmic, an antibiotic, is applied to the eye for treatment of infections such as conjunctivitis (pinkeye) and other eye infections.
Storage
Store in a cool dry place, away from heat and light.
Precaution
If you are sensitive to or have ever had an allergic reaction to Garamycin or certain other antibiotics, such as Tobrex, you should not take this medication. Make sure your doctor is aware of any drug reactions you have experienced.
